Green Striped Cushaw

Green striped cushaws are a traditional Southern winter squash, grown in North America since sometime between 7000 and 3000 B.C.! To many southerners, cushaws are considered superior to pumpkins for pumpkin pie. Cushaw flesh is light yellow and slightly sweet. Cushaws are, among winter squash, uniquely tolerant to heat, and mercifully pest-resistent. Cushaws are also very large, often weighing upwards of ten pounds.
