How is our CSA different?
We never box.  You choose what you want from our grocery-style CSA!!!  We offer credit for missed pick-up days in the form of fresh produce and will pro-rate the cost of a share if you know ahead of time that you will not be able to pick up for a certain number of weeks.  Choice and flexibility are our goals.  We hope to offer a monthly subscription option starting the summer of 2022; however, members who sign up for the whole season will get the best deal.

Expected quantities for each item are listed on Our Produce Page.  For each CSA, we set up what is available, and you select what you want from our offerings.  In addition to traditional vegetables, we also grow ones native to Southeast Asia such as Thai basil and lemongrass.

Where does the fruit come from?
We partner with Three Springs Fruit Farm in Adams County, Pennsylvania to bring a variety of tree fruit throughout the season.  Three Springs Fruit Farm is a Food Alliance Certified farm, which means they use advanced Integrated Pest Management strategies to reduce pesticide and fungicide use.  We also partner with Cinnamon Tree Organics to provide rich flavored single source spices from Sri Lanka and Murdoch's Mushrooms in Silver Spring, MD to offer unique mushroom cultivars.  Strawberries, raspberries,  blueberries and melons are grown on the farm.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I miss a week?
The best way to approach a missed week is to have a family member, neighbor, friend, etc. pick up for you or in your place.  If you cannot find anyone interested in your veggie loot than please let us know ahead of time by emailing thefarmatourhouse@gmail.com so we do not harvest for you that week.

You can double your share the following week or a week of your choosing.

If you do miss a week and are unable to let us know ahead of time we cannot accommodate specific requests to hold shares.  As a small farm we do not have the capacity to store shares or distribute outside of our pick up time window.
How Does the CSA Work?
Full share members typically receive 8 vegetable items and 2 fruit items and half share members typically receive 4 vegetable items and 1 fruit item.

We cannot guarantee fruit the first three weeks of the CSA.  Some items will be labeled "limited to 1 box/bunch/head" which means the maximum of that item you can get is 1, we want to ensure limited items are available for all CSA members. While other items don't have a limit label.  Should you choose to pick 2 bunches or quarts of the same item that counts as 2 items towards your total item count.

For instance this week a half share might include 5 vegetables: 1 bunch kale, 1 head of lettuce, 1 bunch of radishes, 1 pt of sugar snap peas and 1 bunch of swiss chard.  A full share could include 10 vegetables: 2 bunches of kale, 2 heads of lettuce, 2 bunch of radishes, 1pt of sugar snap peas (limit 1), a napa cabbage head, 2 bunch of garlic scapes, and a bag of spicy salad mix.

You can choose vegetables from the selection we offer, but fruit selections are limited.  You may also choose to forgo fruit all together and select 5 vegetables or 10 vegetable items.  We must be strict about f
ruit distribution given are limited supply.

What happens if I know I will be gone part of the season?
If you know you will be out of town on specific weeks at the time of payment, we will pro-rate the cost of the share, but you must let us know when before

What can I expect in the share?
Each visit, members can choose items from the selection of produce available at our market style, u-pick CSA.  We define the quantities.  Unless we have limited quantities, you may choose multiples of the same item. Half share members choose 4 vegetable items and 1 fruit item.  Full Share members receive 8 vegetable items and 2 fruit items-  and receive priority in the distribution of berries, melons, mushrooms, ginger and sweet corn.  For the first two pick up weeks in June we cannot guarantee fruit.

What can I expect as my fruit item?
Strawberries, Raspberries, Blueberries, Cherries, Peaches, Apples, Pears, Nectarines, Watermelons, Muskmelons, Mushrooms(?) and Sweet Corn

Can I switch pick up locations?
Try to have a friend, family member, neighbor, co-worker etc pick it up for you or for themselves.  If you can’t find anyone who wants a crate full of veggies than please give us 24hr notice so we don’t harvest for you.
*If you need to switch your pick-up day on occasion we will gladly harvest your CSA share any day that we have pick-up within the same pick up week (Wednesday or Sunday)
