Red Burgundy Okra

Red Burgundy okra is an heirloom variety that is tender, delicious, and beautiful! Okra is a massive (growing up to 10 ft!), heat-loving plant with lovely flowers. It's a member of the mallow family that originated in either Africa or South Asia. Red Burgundy okra produces an abundance of long, slender pods, and raw okra is one of our favorite summertime snacks out in the field. It's also delicious fried, in soups, stews, or gumbos, sitr fried, or roasted. With its mucilagenous consistency, okra isn't for everyone, but we hope you all try munching a small one raw to see how you like it. You might be surprised!
